The beginning of the history of the building started in the 16th century, when the stone and most probably the two-floor building with a cellar were constructed further away from the street. In the 17th century the Gothic style building was reconstructed, and in 1796-1801 the building was reconstructed again. The building acquired a U-shape, when an additional wing was constructed near the modern-day T. Daugirdo Street. The Renaissance architecture was replaced by Classicism forms – removing the arch entrance in the main façade, four Tuscan columns supporting the balcony and a porch were constructed. The latter was removed during the restoration of 1961-1964 to restore the Renaissance façade and to preserve the Classicism shape.
